study in Canada
Canada is a top destination for international students, thanks to its reputation for maintaining high academic standards. The country’s world-class education system ensures that students receive a quality education that not only meets global benchmarks but also equips them with the skills and knowledge needed for future success.
In addition, full-time students studying in Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) may be able to work on-campus and off-campus without a work permit to gain practical work experience even before they graduate. These opportunities often open doors for students to exciting careers worldwide.
Hopeway Immigration helps students of all ages apply for study permits and provides honest advice and professional opinions on their eligibility for potential pathways to work in Canada after graduation or live here long-term as permanent resident. Our education consulting partners help you choose credible study programs and schools that meet your objectives and suit your profile
Frequently Asked Questions Studying in Canada
Most international students need a study permit or student visa to study in Canada, unless their study program is six months or less ro they are minor children attending preschool or kindergarten.
International students who need a study permit to study can only enrol in designated learning institutions (DLI) which are approved by provinces and territories to host international students. All primary and secondary schools in Canada are DLIs.
You need to apply with:
- A Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the designated learning institution
- A Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) which will be provided by the DLI that admits you
- A valid passport
- Proof of financial support
- A Medical examination may be required
- Police clearance may be required
A study permit’s validity depends on the level of education being applied for:
- Primary school students (Grade 1 to 8): usually valid for 1 year with the option of renewal in Canada
- Secondary school (Grade 9-12) or Post-secondary students (college or university): valid for the same length as the study program, plus 90 days
