Family Sponsorship in Canada
Family Class Immigration allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to reunite with their loved ones in Canada. However, sponsors must meet specific Canada family sponsorship requirements, and each sponsorship category comes with its own rules and obligations. Once approved, sponsored family members may live, study, and work in Canada without requiring additional visas or permits.
At Hopeway Immigration, we help you navigate the Spousal and Common-Law Partner Sponsorship process with confidence. Whether you are sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, parents, or grandparents, our experienced immigration consultant provides strategic, end-to-end support tailored to your family’s unique situation.
On top of completing forms and gathering supporting documents, our team develops a customized sponsorship strategy to strengthen your application and ensure compliance with Canadian immigration law-helping your family build a secure and sustainable future in Canada.
From spousal sponsorship and the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) to open work permits for sponsored spouses, we handle every step of the family immigration to Canada process.

FAQs - Family Sponsorship Canada
You may be eligible to sponsor a family member if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, are at least 18 years old, reside in Canada or plan to return (for citizens), and meet financial and legal sponsorship requirements.
Certain conditions may prevent you from acting as a sponsor, such as previous sponsorship defaults or unpaid immigration debts. Book a consultation with Hopeway Immigration to determine your eligibility.
If you are a qualified sponsor, you may sponsor your spouse or common-law partner living inside or outside Canada, dependent children, parents or grandparents, orphaned siblings, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren under 18.
The person being sponsored must prove that they are in a genuine relationship with the sponsor, pass medical examinations and background checks, and have no serious criminal record. The applicant should submit required documentation, including identity documents, proof of relationship, and police certificates. For dependent children, additional proof of dependency may be required.
As a sponsor, you must sign an undertaking agreement with the Canadian government, committing to provide financial support for your sponsored family member’s basic needs, including food, housing, and healthcare not covered by public insurance.
This ensures the sponsored person will not need to rely on government social assistance during the undertaking period.
The financial commitment period depends on the relationship. The undertaking period for sponsoring spouses or common-law partners is typically 3 years, whereas for parents or grandparents is up to 20 years and for dependent children it varies by age.
The sponsor of a spouse, common-law partner or dependent children does not need to meet minimum income requirements set by the IRCC. However, there are minimum income requirements for sponsoring other family members.
With expert guidance and a personalized strategy, Hopeway Immigration helps you navigate the complexities of Canada’s family sponsorship programs with clarity and peace of mind.
